Jujutsu Kaisen is available to watch on Crunchyroll, HBO Max and VRV.
I finally had the opportunity to watch the very popular Jujutsu Kaisen anime, which was broadcast between September 2020 and March 2021. I chose not to miss the anime series, which draws attention with its characters and content, and whose pictures I see everywhere, and I watched it. Maybe it wasn’t the best anime I’ve watched, and although the story was a bit turbulent, I can easily say it’s one of the series with the best characters I’ve ever watched.
Jujutsu Kaisen has a theme based on curses. Every living creature radiates energy called “cursed energy”. Of course, this is an involuntary act, and this energy comes from negative emotions. As a result, supernatural creatures are born from this cursed energy, which they call “curses” and harm people. The people who control the cursed energy emitted by the bodies are called Jujutsu Mages. Especially high-ranking mages and special-level curses can control their cursed energies in different and dangerous ways. In other words, the abilities of both sorcerers and curses differ.
In this world of Jujutsu wizards and curses, Yuji Itadori is an ordinary high school student, as we are used to in almost every anime. In the words of his late grandfather, his philosophy is “always help people and have people around you when you die”. Meanwhile, Itadori is also a member of the school’s occult research club, and as in every anime, they get a very powerful cursed object one day. The cursed object in his hands is one of Ryomen Sukuna’s fingers, which is perhaps considered the strongest curse, and since the object is a very powerful cursed object, it attracts other curses. Itadori’s friends are in danger, and of course, what does Itadori do? He’s trying to save them.
Meanwhile, our young friend named Fushiguro has been assigned to retrieve the cursed object. Now I cut it short; events unfold, and Itadori eats Sukuna’s finger, partly out of necessity. Yes, you know, it puts it in your mouth and digests it 🙂 Then Sukuna comes to life in Itadori, but the expected evil does not happen, and Sukuna cannot take over Itadori’s body. Gojou Satoru, one of the Jujutsu High School teachers, who I still don’t know how strong he is, is also involved in the event. Satoru, who finds Itadori very interesting, wants to take him to Jujutsu High School. However, high-ranking mages see Sukuna and Itadori among them as a great threat and demand his execution. Then the events develop, and we find ourselves in the twenty-four-episode anime.
First of all, from my point of view, the story doesn’t go much beyond a standard good strong versus bad strong story. In Jujutsu Kaisen, the good are sorcerers, and the bad are curses. Of course, although there are dark and unpredictable types, the scenario is actually familiar. Although it is well-known, it makes you watch it, but towards the middle, I realized that I was starting to get bored with that school thing, and the series picked up quickly. For me, what makes the anime watchable is the characters and the air they spread. The humor side of the anime is very good. Let me state that right away. I really liked some of the jokes, the character’s behavior, and attitude. Itadori is not a bad main character, but the first of my favorite characters is Gorou Satoru, whom I mentioned before, and Nanami Kento, whom I said if I were in the Jujutsu universe, I would be like this guy 🙂
Gorou Satoru is the unknown of the anime. Fearless, relaxed, witty, a little lazy, and the girls’ biggest lover when he takes off his eye patch:) Joking aside, he is perhaps the most powerful magician of all time and has the capacity to beat the types that our main characters will have difficulty with without shedding a drop of sweat. So I’m looking forward to the emergence of an enemy that this man will use to his full potential. Who knows, maybe Satoru vs We will follow Sukuna ahead. My other favorite character is Nanamin, as I mentioned in the words of Itadori. He may not be as powerful as Satoru, but he is the kind of principled mage that should never be underestimated. He never likes to work outside of working hours, and just because of irregular working hours, he quit sorcery for a while and got into the sales representative job with fixed working hours 🙂 He does not break Satoru’s request and guides Itadori in developing his skills.
I liked the anime’s drawings and music in general. I especially liked the damn animations that look like they are comic-book effects. Apart from that, both the character designs and the drawings of the curses are very successful. The characters are not over-drawn types, and curses flow from the face of the curses 🙂 Likewise, the atmosphere that the music adds to the series is ideal. Maybe I didn’t love the two opening tracks, but I wouldn’t say they were bad either.
Jujutsu Kaisen may not be one of the best series I’ve seen as a story, but as I said, it has a rich cast of characters and characters like Satoru and Nanamin, so it makes you watch it. Of course, curses should not be overlooked. Just as there are different Stand users in Jojo’s Bizzare Adventure anime, there are mages and curses with different abilities. Therefore, if you are fond of this style, Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the anime you should watch. Do I have to point out that it’s half-finished? Like every anime, we’ll have to wait a bit for the sequel. For now, it is known that an anime movie about the future will come in 2022, but when will the continuation of the series come?
